Come to Bally Vaughan!
There’s heaps to experience at Bally Vaughan, and no need to book in advance, just come on out. We’re open from 9am to 5pm every day except Monday, and we feed the predators every day at 4pm. You can even help us feed them! You’ll get an up close look at lion, leopard, hyena, caracal, serval and civet. You’re encouraged to wander our pathways and visit the rest of the animals as well. Or, better yet, take an informative half-day guided safari (booking is essential for the safaris).
Half-day Guided Safaris
Half-day safaris are held in the morning and again in the afternoon. You’ll learn about the sanctuary and its inhabitants from Sarah Carter, who has lived and worked with our beloved animals for years. Get the stories behind the animals including hair-raising hyena rescues and heartbreaking donkey recoveries, as well as the many touching and funny stories from life at the sanctuary.
Morning Safari 9.30am to 12.30pm includes personal tour, monkey feeding, and morning tea and cakes.
Afternoon Safari 2pm to 5pm includes personal tour, predator feeding and afternoon tea and cakes.
Loads to do!
There are other great activities at Bally Vaughan:
- Come and have lunch at our coffee shop and watch the animals graze around you.
- Fish in our tranquil dam and maybe catch-and-release a bass or a bream (there is a $3 fishing fee).
- Birthday parties for kids and adults. Kids can visit the animals, feed the donkeys, play at our playground, run around on the lawns, and we guarantee they’ll go home exhausted!.
- Weddings can be hosted in our coffee shop or in our private function dining room, the Duck or Grouse. Please note that sometimes donkeys try and eat the wedding flowers…
- Braai Sites are also available along our lake, but strictly by advance notice please.
- Educational School Tours can be held for children’s groups (school, church, sports teams) to introduce them to our wildlife and educate them on conservation issues.
- Game Ranger Days for kids 7-12 are held every Wednesday during the school holidays. This popular event gives children a chance to experience what a day in the life of a Bally Vaughan game ranger is like, including an animal rescue!
